Cornerstone helped to send them to Vietnam and Ron and Christine met them over there in 1998.

Cornerstone Institute for Training Youth - our Trade School on Tanna

A Cornerstone church special offering is underway to purchase a saw mill for the Trade School we have built on the island of Tanna. We want to turn around the lives of the people of Tanna and enable them to help themselves. Tanna is in the Vanuatu group and has the active volcano that many people visit.

Amazing news from Pastor Joshua on Tanna

Hello to every one.

This is Healing Touch news to you again.
We are so grateful to see what God is doing here at this end of time as we are starting to see souls getting saved. We had a ministry to southern part of Tanna and seeing 25 lost souls got safe and baptized. You know our compassion heart is to see lost souls here in Vanuatu get saved. I was teaching one morning at about 10 o’clock and suddenly every body witness seeing water flowing out from the bamboo into an empty drum without any rain falling during that day with a sunny day, a lady stood up the next day and said it was her first time to see signs as what the Bible was talking about.

On the day of baptism another thing happen, during the hour of baptism the Holy Spirit fell on the people getting baptized as each one of them went inside the water and up as I was baptising them didn’t move back straight away but remaining in the water lifting up their hands and filled with the anointing of God. When this happens everybody felt the conviction of the spirit and started speaking in tongues. We didn’t see the dove flying down and sitting on each head but we all felt the very powerful presence of God.

The next day we got an urgent message asking us to go and pray for a sick person so we walk for an hour to reach the village. They took the sick person out and as we laid hands on him and say a prayer God healed him instantly, the pain left and him and his brothers and sisters received Jesus in their lives. More and more people are now giving their life to Jesus as they see great healings and miraculous happening. As we left the southern part of Tanna we now received a report that now the number of people giving their life to God is growing bigger and bigger.

So they are asking for a shelter as their church house for praying every Sunday and other days of the week due to their weekly program. We would like to say we have no problems in seeing lost souls safe but our problem is transport and we pray that God will help us one day provide a lift for our long journey to different communities or villages . We will never give up but we will continue on and on until Jesus comes back. Read and pass it on may God bless you.

Christmas is here.. can you believe it? The year has certainly flown by and once again, has been a very full year for us. This year we've had almost 170 visitors... everyone from builders, engineers, teachers, pastors, business people and students. Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit the work we are involved with here. If you are interested in visiting or sending a team in 2012 please contact us now so we can organise all the details with you and to make sure you have a valuable experience.

The majority of the Capacity team attended the PanAsia conference in Phuket during the first week of August and were encouraged, inspired and challenged by the messages and stories. After the conference we had 9 people join us for an extended time (from one month to nine months).

There have been some great things achieved and a new beginning for many people this year, and a lot of this has happened since our last newsletter. Please take the time to read the updates below and also to pray for us as we enter 2012.

For Vietnam please pray for the children seeking medical help, the training for the Shine project and the training with local leaders in things that we almost take for granted in Australia.

Thailand is experiencing some of the worst flooding that it has had for several years. People are dying and many are getting sick. Pray that in this doors will open, people will come to Christ and churches will be planted. This tragedy is an open door in so many ways.

Please pray for healing for two girls in the children's homes Narada and Meery.

Hi all,

Doug Higgins here. I trust you are doing well.
A brief update as to how things are going here in Thailand.

Organizationally we have planted 60 churches this year.
In one key church in Wiang Papao there have been 40 first time decisions in the past month. We have increased from one church planting cell group to three in the past 2 months in this church.

The house building project is doing well. We have built three houses in the past two months and will complete another two houses soon.

Creative and healing miracles are happening in the churches and this is leading people to Christ.
About 700 first time decisions have been made this year.
We are developing a new Bible School using a curriculum base from Australia and it is seeing results.

Narada is a girl in one of the children's homes. She started getting headaches and Ps Supote too her to hospital. The doctors did not want to do a CAT scan on her as she "is only tribal" and "why waste your money"...We got the scan done, she has a worm in the brain and the knowledge gained from the scan has probably saved her life. God is interested in tribal people. The scan was $500 AUD and we have raised half of the cost for it. PTl.

Meery, a girl in one of the children's homes has leukemia. She is on medication and continues to astound the doctors with her rate of improvement. The only difference between her and several others in the same situation is the prayer of the saints.

We have a big build coming up at Wiang Papao soon. We want to try and build the pastors home and start on other buildings including the boys dorm and another girls dorm and a multi purpose building. Please pray for the funds and teams to come in t help us get this done. We are looking for outside help to come and build with us.

James our oldest sone has just announced his engagement to Twyla, an American girl who has lived in Thailand since she was 6 months old.

Zac our other son has just returned to Australia to start a new life for himself. Pray he gets a job and eventually gets into Uni as well.

Thankyou so much for all of your prayers and support for us here. As a result of this we will be able to plant up to 100 churches this year and see more than one thousand first time decisions made and continue to train leaders to complete the task at hand, including children's homes, Bible College training, building houses, prison, hospital and other ministries as well.

HEALING TOUCH NEWS ( A mission to Ambae Island which is well north of Vila it lies between Pentecost and Espiritu Santo - see map below)

News sent August 2011

I am coming back to you to let you know that know I am in Port Vila and going across to Penama province . I am travelling with 4 of my men after receiving many telephone calls from Ambae asking me to go and teach and preach the word to them. I cannot refuse this calling that I feel God is calling me to go but my question is how will I go. Turning in my sleeping bed up to the next morning as my spirit struggle, will I do it or refuse it . The morning came and it was Sunday morning we went to the church , I stood up and announce at the end of the church service who is willing to sow into Gods kingdom for this trip.

Some showed interest to give but as we return home the next morning I got up from my sleep and I saw my wife counting coins and I asked her what are you doing with your coins? She turned to me with tears in her eyes “husband how can I leave you to go by your self I am counting my last coin to come with you”. At this tears dropped from my eyes also. This caused me to stay awake without sleeping well for 2 nights and praying for the situation. You know here in Vanuatu life is difficult in finance. I was walking that night praying as the night atmosphere was very cool and as I came to my praying place I said “Lord, where are you ?” and as I looked up I saw a great light fly across the sky and it brings me a touch from heaven as I walk back to the church.

A week later and our finances are enough for 5 people to go to Ambae. Our last struggle is for 4 people to get back to Tanna from Vila and is still waiting on God to answer our pray. We are now in Vila and our finance allows as to go to Ambae and back to Vila but from Vila back to Tanna we are believing that God will answer our needs. Sometimes things get very hard but I will keep running for my nation until Jesus returns . I will not limit my God in difficult times in my ministry for you my beloved friends in Christ I don't want to be a begger but my humble heart will continue crying for my nation until Jesus returns and receive us into His Glory .

Hello my beloved friends in Christ we live for we have received salvation through Christ our Saviour .

It has been a struggle before reaching the province of Pennama on the island of Ambae as I have mention in my last news . Anyway we finally landed on the Island that God had showed to us. The first night we ended up in the church with a pastor and about 10 members in the church waiting to welcome us .
Before we started the service we pray and ask God why to we have to come here when we didn't have people to meet us for our visiting there . Even when we landed at the air port no body was waiting for us so we have to find our own way to the village where the church is .We feel that something must have gone wrong . We prayed and the prophet saw orange trees standing in a row but the wind blew against them and break down all the branches. Then we knew straight away that Satan has damaged the church organisations and the love of fellowship has grown weak .

So we prayed for restoration , the next morning we were told to walk for 2 km to visit some believers, we went there and that evening God started throwing people as they heard that a Christian team has visited them. Sunday the next morning the house in which we were asked to hold the service was packed and while we were still singing, the anointing of God fell down very strongly that people run up to the altar with tears and those who were sick God healed them .

When people see and listen and are restored then more and more people want to know about the team and would like to hear the word of God. People who received healing go back and tell the others and the invitation was so big that more and more people came for a healing prayer.

Where ever we were invited to a place a sign of rain was following us. It had not rained here for four months and this time people started to say these people bring an anointing with rain confirming it . The rain would not rain when we were walking but it rains every time at the end of every service. We will start singing and the people will start crying as they feel the anointing through the songs.
I taught for 2 days and at the end the leaders of the 5 centres each one stood up and confess to the members and other pastors. Our last night was packed full of people and souls were save as I preached God's message on inheritance. The place was full of people 20 new souls were saved, 100 lives were renewed, 40 received healing and 100 a touch of a fresh anointing . Because of this they will organise a provincial conference next year on December 12 to15 .

As we leave on Friday back to Vila they call us and said 9 years of separation between the five pastors have ended. On Sunday everybody will come together for a companion service and their first Vision is UNITY.

Tanna: A whole village saved on 3 June 2011

Hello all my fellow Gospel workers around the world

This is another news from Vanuatu to all our friends that we are sharing together for this last days Gospel.
Today I would like to sent you our news of what happened on Sunday in one of our latest out reach crusade held in a Village with not any one being a Christisn . We got the invitation asking us to go after the chief of the village and his people lost one of their community members . He died of a spiritual sickness .

When he died one member of the community saw a great vision. Jesus came and spoke to them asking them to move out of the way they are living and go to pastor Joshua and give their life to Jesus. The lady shared the vision among them and the chief sent massage “we want you Joshua, to come to our village and speak to us about Jesus”.

Friday the 3rd of this month they all get together that evening and all were waiting for my arrival . As I came to the place they had prepared a flower ceremony. Before the service started, the chief of the village stood up and gave a welcome speech and sitting there listening I was suprised to hear him say “now I would like to tell you pastor Joshua that we have been living under slavery , under attack of the devil and we have lost already all our fathers and mothers and many brothers and sisters, but today I stand here in your presence to say that there is no other way to be saved as many members of the families left our home to live with relatives in other villages. I as the chief of the village have tried my very best to protect our family but I have come up to invite you to our village to tell you that today we will follow the God you are serving. We want Jesus to come into our life. And now I am declaring that we will all give our life to Jesus, young and old.” As I heard this I felt a touch in my heart for these lost souls and I remember why God has allowed me to stop teaching and to reach out to lost souls. I feel I am not worthy of witnessing the lost souls getting save but I know its not my will but it is His will.

After the service on Sunday as I gave a call for baptism the chief was the first person to step out. That day I baptised 48 people. As they were standing in the line for baptism you could see tears dropping from their eyes because they were thinking of the worst times they have been facing but today Jesus is the answer to their problems.

Before I left to return back to Green Hill center the chief did a peace ceremony in front of everybody saying thank you for coming and leading them to Christ.

Friends thank for your connection to Vanuatu because you connection is a solidarity prayer for our lost souls here and even though you are not here with us God will keep helping you and blessing you. Because for every single soul that was saved God has answered your prayer.

We have more souls to reach all over Vanuatu but if God is with his people He has a plan to provide finance to other places throughout our Nation Vanuatu .

Tanna: News of the young Laurie Hennessey

Hello to every one in Cornerstone Church we would like to sent you some news of what is happening at this time in Vanuatu . Friends of those who love the Lord we want to tell you that God is really working in many lives in these last days and we here in Vanuatu are starting to see great things that is happening in peoples lives .

From middle bush area we had a great service and 17 new born believers were baptisted. Last Sunday we separated into two groups and hold weekend outreach and 10 people were baptisted. As we move around to many homes we see that there are a lot of hungerness for God’s spirit to fill them up .

People need the anointing of God to flow into their heart. Last week we had an outreach in another Village and my son Laurie Hennessey told me he would like to preach on Sunday . I said son “I really want you to preach but can you make it through.” He replied that he can do it . That Sunday morning people come all over for a big combined service and with their expectation is to hear me preaching .

Pastor David leads the service and calls me to go and preach, then I stood up went in front and said today we will hear the word of God from Laurie my son . As I called him in the middle of the people then I look at him and he was crying . He stood up with tears in his eyes and walk to the front of the people.

In my amazement he started speaking with boldness and I am standing there beside him with tears from my eyes. He spoke to the people about foundation and he talks about building a house with a good foundation which will be build properly.

As he was still speaking the anointing of God filled the atmosphere and every body was filled with anointing. During that hour God changed many people’s lives and many lives were renewed. We are still receiving congratulations from pastors and people for Laurie as they will never forget the day of that great anointing .

Last Sunday he made a decision to help a pastor in Jerusalem Healing Center. He will be riding his bicycle, that his name sake bought, to go there and back every Sunday. As young people see what Laurie is doing there were 20 young men who came to the altar on Sunday for pray so that they to can help with spreading the Gospel. We will be coming over to Sydney in October to attend the COC national conference this year. He said to me father I really want to join you to see how big God is in other nations like Australia.
I said son lets pray that God will take you there with us but we do not have money to pay for your fare with us.

He look down and tears drop from his eyes he said why did God made us poor, I didn’t say a word then he said even if we are poor but I love my God with all my heart. Anything can happen I said and keep believing in God.

Tanna: April News from Trade School

Hello to everybody and those who are interested in hearing testimonies of what is happening in the school .

We are going on well especially teaching the students the way God would like them to live. We are trying to let the children know the importance of living when Jesus is leading and being the captain of the home.

In Devotions and Bible studies with the student I am trying to let the students understand that our great grand parents have been 40 years in the wilderness and because of this destruction has come into our generation so the result is today we are finding it very hard to find prosperity in our life.

I told them this generation needs to make the change , we have to bring a difference into our society where we live. I even told them if we are not careful we will fall into the same trance. A student from Futuna island told me later "that even though my father is a pastor it was really a challenging because of all the messages you are giving and he said to me. Pastor I was a Kava drinker, smoking and going to clubs drinking alcohol, but as soon as I entered the school boundary I felt it was different. The atmosphere here is different so I went over to a village out there and give away my smoking stuff."

The next day a man came to me and said, "Pastor a student came and saw me and he gave me all his smoking tobacco". We serve an almighty God and we will faithfully seek his kingdom until his return. We need your prayers and support and you are welcome to come and learn more of what God is doing in our life .

Re earthquake. We are safe in Chiang Mai. 4.5 here. Epicenter a 7. North into Burma apparently not a densely populated area. Over 200 km away the house shook, ornaments dropped & this was "only" a 7...

Tanna: Trade School - answers to prayer

Hello Brothers and Sisters
Another news for you about what God is doing.

Last Friday we went to do some shopping for the trade school. As we reached the town a lady come over to Serah and she said "Serah its of great blessing to me and my husband to notice from our son that one morning as we sit around for our morning tea that my son said "I would like to say a word of God". And he started speaking of the Bible Study that Pastor Joshua gave the students about why God called Abram to move and go to another land that God would give him.

This lady then ask for kiss with tears from her eyes of knowing that God has bring a change to her son.

Yesterday we had a great service with great anointing. A student walked to the altar and with tears accepted Jesus and the Holy Spirit filled him. He fell to the floor with the Holy Spirit shaking him. When I saw this my heart cried out with tears of joy. He is from Santo the big island in the northern part of Vanuatu.

So another proof that this school is of God's plan so that we will plant the seed of great move of God throughout the whole Nation of Vanuatu.

I will never stop saying thanks to Cornerstone church for the good heart of planting a seed of greatness on God's behalf for our life here in Vanuatu.

Tanna: Trade School - Bible class for 60 students

Some news from Joshua regarding the trade school. It seems all is well over there, so we should keep on praying for what they are doing over there. As you can read, he said that he stands before 60 students every day teaching them the Bible before they head off to class, so that is good news.

Hello my friends,

I am just calling to let you know that we are going okay with the school.

The two teachers are going well happy with their teaching and all students are very happy in their great lessons.

Every day we have our first morning lesson on morning devotion, followed by Bible study. Last week I teach them about Genesis on creation.

Every day I stand before 60 students to preach and teach I feel I am clearing a new place to grow groups.

Just for the first week many students have accepted the good news and the second week for the first time the students have started evening devotions.

It is like we are transplanting new groups into new soil - Praise the Lord .

Amazing 2 days. 1 - someone accepting the Father, 2- One Day to Change the World funds collected from our Govt partners to touch lives in OTHER countries, 3 - visit a school of 600 kids who just received clean water and now taking home to their families, that means 1000s have clean water, 4 - visited Minority village to see what we can do in their school, that is a whole nuther story!!!!! An absolute joy to pick up recent copy of Accent Magazine and find on page 19 an article on James Higgins. So like his father. What a great help he is in their work for Lord.

Christine and Ron first met Doug and Fiona Higgins on a "get to know Pen Asia missions" trip in 1998. When we visited North Thailand the Higgins decided this was for them. Later we met their then very young sons. It was good they could all go and live in the same town rather than the boys going to boarding school.

I was asked for a very brief update from Huibri Martin, PA to Ps Sean Stanton head of the Pen Asia leadership team based at Canberra CLC.

I thought you might be interested in this as it captures a few critical areas we are working in right now.

On another note I (Doug) will be going to Bairnsdale in Victoria on the 2nd of April to jump out of a plane for Parachute 4 Poverty. All funds raised will go to the Nail Poverty house building project. If you or anyone you know are able to sponsor me for this event that would be awesome. Sponsorship is tax deductible. Over the past 6 months.

3 things to celebrate
1: 40 churches planted
2: From the Creators Church Network we have sent our own home grown home supported Thai Lahu

church planting missionary couple to Burma to work with Lahu villages planting churches there.

3: The Nail Poverty house building project, (through Tim Boyle, a Boeing engineer who has worked with

us on site) has received a Community Service award from Boeing International. It it the first
time this award has ever been given to an entity outside the USA.

2 things that are challenges
1: keeping the project work moving at a rate that will satisfy the key stakeholders, thus keeping the level of interest at a rate that will enable sufficient funds through the projects to bring them to completion in a reasonable time frame, thus enabling us to get on with more projects.
2: To achieve and maintain a level of cutting edge excellence in what we are doing that brings us to the forefront in missions in South East Asia.

With Every Home for Christ we are exploring storying for discipleship. Not just seeing people come to Christ but the reality of them becoming disciples, pastors, leaders & network church planting church planters, using this medium in non literate groups.

Carrot Dip with Pita Bread Chips

This is from "simply heaven" a book that has 75 recipes using PHIlADELPHIA Cream Cheese.

We served this at church on 30 Jan 2011

3 carrots (400g), peeled and chopped

125g PHIlADELPHIA Spreadable Light Cream Cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons milk

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 1/2 teaspoons cumin

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 large pita breads, sliced into wedges

1 Boil, microwave or steam carrots until tender.
Place carrots -in a food processor and process until smooth.

2. Add PHILLY, Parmesan,: milk, garlic, cumin,.

and seasonings and process until well combined. Chill.

3 Place pita bread on a large baking tray

A. and spray with oil. Bake in a hot oven 200°C tor 5-10 minutes or until golder and crisp.

B. ACTUALLY – we don't spray with oil – Christine prepares chips at a time when baking a cake etc. When cake is finished put trays of pita chips into oven and just turn oven off. The heat will be enough to crisp the pita bread.

Monthly news letter year 2010 Months December

Hellow every body welcome to our latest news for this year 2010 . First thing we want to tell you that God is still working mightily through the ministry in our Nation .

This year I did a visit to Ambae Island that is in Penama Province as I have already sent news about that God has bless a lot of Christians in the Island as I visited 4 churches

Today I,am receiving good news that come from the island that they call it Ps Joshua’s system .It is mainly about the way I thought them to run a service with the letting of the Holy spirit . They said its very short and very powerful .Now they are calling me on the telephone to go back very soon so may be I will visit them on April 2011 Depending on how much finance to enable me to go over .

InTafea province we did a lot of outreaches and many more people got save and got Baptise. 16^th of November we had a great service and 23 candidates got baptist . We registered 90 New born believers got baptist that is in Tanna (Tafea province ) In Vila we baptise 50 candidates and 100 many other people were revive or reniew their life . We believe that more and more people will come to Christ next year as the spirit of God will keep moving among the believers .

As the ministry is growing I have to organize a conference in our main Town Port Vila and after a lot of effort put to that it happens , we held the conference on this month December from 6^th ____9^th and the theme of the conference was Empowering. It has turn up to be a very powerful conference apart from all previous conference I attended .Also this will be the first conference that I organized with the help of Our Pastors in Port Vila .

I praise our heavenly father for sending Mathew , Pam , and peth from Sydney Australia to join the conference and they did teach the church of a very effective lesson topic THE MARKET PLACE which Christian people who has been to the confrence where so bless about it and they said we have learn new things in this confrence and we are going to take back home and change.

About 32 of us that came from Tanna even tho we find it very difficult in finding enough finance to come over to this confrence but we finally made it . A member said I have enough money to travel to Vila but not enough to travel back , 12^th on Sunday service we had service together at Eractor bridge and he stood up with boldness shared his testimony and God touches some ones heart to pay for his return back to Tanna .

His speech was of great faith because he looks over the situation and see Jesus in his heart . He was just a blessing to many believers as the tears of anointing dropes down his eyes. 4 months born again believer but he was full of great faith he goes on to say if he is in trouble in Vila no place to sleep or no food but will accept it as he’s poor but wanted to come in the conference as a step out of faith for God to bless him .

Registered members in the conference were about 164 not counting people living in Vila that joins in for night crusades . Before we came over to Vila we fasted and pray for the conference and God showed to a prophet that something will happen on the 8^th that is Wednesday then it happens as I was teaching on Isaiah chapter 22 vs. 22 and topic the key , I asked them to find their key in Acts ch 1 vs. 8 .

You know with out the key John and Peter wouldn’t make it at the beautiful gate . We need the anointing of God in all our services in our movements so that Gods church can be build because if we go to church and we just read to understand then the power of Gods kingdom will not be manifested in us .

The holy spirit in the day of Pentecost is the key to receive Gods power .So church we need to come together in the church with one heart one mind And we can have the key to open the treasure of Gods power .

As I was still speaking about this then the spirit of God filled the atmosphere and see people run to the alter to receive the spirit of God . Great power of anointing fell so every body were all bless . Our last night was more power full with great anointing .When this happens in our conference I know that God has come in the same form us Greenhill to sake our main town in years to come .Because this happens to us and today the ministry is growing bigger and bigger in Tafea province . This is our main town as you all know we have people all over our Nation coming here and I believe as we establish properly here then we are going to extern the revival very quickly through out our Nation.

That Last night the chairman of Christian outreach centre who lives in Sydney ask me for an agreement to pea case a land in Vila to build and establish this move of God and part of the agreement was he offer to help port Vila with the amount of 35 million Vatu as first instalment . We are looking on paying of a school run by an Indian but not operating at this time ,it has broken down by poor management with 3 complete classrooms and one unfinished classroom .This school can hold 400 students and it is a 5 hectare of land .

So I would like to say all you support is like coming together not in the form of religion Jesus Is whom we worship and lifted John 12 vs. 32 if I am lifted up I will throw all men unto myself So let us come together and lift up the name of Jesus to see lost souls save in all Nations before the coming of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ .

My call to all believers all around Australia to those I know and those I didn’t know your prayers and your gifts towards the move of God is honour by me and our fellow Christian brothers and sisters . Your priority of your giving helps to take the word of God to many places around Vanuatu we are not building our house but one day you will be standing before the throne of God and the names of souls from Vanuatu will be announce and I believe Jesus would turn around , look at you and said come you faith full servant and he will reward you for you showing .

I will keep running with faith whether situation comes in my way it will not stops me because I know God loves people all around the world and sent Jesus to die for us all .Lastly I would like to sent our thanks to connected friends and ministries in Australia .

Higgins Family Thailand Update 2010

To all our dear family, friends and partners.

Warmest greetings to you from Doug, Fiona, James & Zac.

We want to thank you for all you have contributed during 2010. Your prayers, gifts, visitations, advice and general assistance to the work and to us personally has been invaluable.

We thank God for each and every one of you and pray that you are having a blessed Christmas and New Year season and we are looking forward with you to a successful and fruitful year in 2011.

2010 has been punctuated by significant moments of success and significant moments of challenge for us. It has been a growing year in many ways with James now joining Capacity. Zac is in year 12 preparing to return to Australia sometime in 2011. If you live in Melbourne and are interested in assisting an MK find his feet for a while we would love to hear from you. He has also done some runway and catalogue modeling as well. Fiona and myself are preparing for a new season in the ministry here.

We will start 2011 with a small team of westerners and we are grateful to God for that. Rod & Sue, Melody, Ruth, James & Penny (now based in Australia) are all helping to take Capacity to what we believe God has intended for it to be. There are a number of churches, individuals, organizations and businesses we want to say a special thank you to as we would not be where we are today without you.

As this year draws to a close we look to reflect on what we have done well, what we need to improve on and prayerfully consider God’s direction for 2011. Sorry that our communication back to you has been scant this year. We have already implemented a number of systems to see this greatly improved on in 2011. You will be hearing from us a lot more in written and audio visual communication in 2011. The girls home in Maesai is temporarily closed, we anticipate reopening it for the school year in 2011. We also have significant budget needs for the different projects. Those are the challenges, now to the most encouraging aspects of 2010.

Highlights for 2010

January
We hosted three teams and then Fiona & I went to Perth for 2 weeks, attended the Influencers conference, caught up with many people there and were able to share about the work in various areas. We also had a few days to rest which was great. The WA beaches are stunning.

February
We returned to Thailand and hit the ground running. Lots of preaching and teaching, 3 board meetings, 2 graduation services, Koos our architect for the Nail Poverty project paid a visit as did Terry and Viv, friends from Victoria. We got new computers in February for ourselves and 10 computers for the school (thanks Terry) as well. PTL.

March
Leanne and Mary visited. 70 meetings this month, a visit by Sean and Greg was very encouraging. Opened a new church plant in Chiang Rai. Thai youth camp (3000 in attendance).

April
James went to Australia, thankyou Faith! and friends for looking after him. Team in from Perth, ministered brilliantly. Time with Koos our architect and Rod our building manager before flying to Australia for a few weeks. Lots of meetings and preaching opportunities. A busy time in cold Melbourne.

May
A month of driving all over south east Australia, including one car write off and whiplash which still keeps me awake at night. Many meetings and opportunities to share about the work here. Thankyou to everyone who so graciously hosted me.

June
A lot of traveling most of which was driving, also sharing about the work, teaching and preaching.
Week 1. Melbourne to Adelaide to Mt Gambier to Melbourne to Albury to Mt Beauty to Wangaratta.
Week 2. After a medical examination; Wangaratta to Horsham to Berri to Hamilton to Mt Gambier to Melbourne.
Then fly back to Thailand, small team in lots of meetings and catch up work. Fiona and Zac joined James in Australia.

July
Administration, catch up work, significant meetings, reporting, lots of driving, tele conferences and off to Phuket to prepare for our ACC missions conference with the Pan Asia region.

August
Pan Asia conference. A great conference. It gets better each year. IF you can manage it in 2011 we encourage you to be there. After conference we hosted 3 teams at the same time in Chiang Mai. This worked well. Great to see churches coming together to advance the Kingdom of God. I (Doug) taught Bible College students about the person and works of the Holy Spirit. Great to see Fiona and the boys again after their time in Australia.

September
Lots of various meetings, Koos dropped in again, and we had 6 teams in for building, medical and vision testing, giving away glasses and for general ministry. I received an Eagle award from the Victorian ACC. Thankyou to our peers for believing in us and what we do.

October
Teams, a church planting seminar, a short holiday, Neville over to help Rod & Sue build for 2 weeks and Steve and Merle visiting were all wonderful things in October. A definite highlight for us was the first ever Creators Church conference, where among other things we ordained 4 ministers. Thankyou Phil & Brad for making it a special time for us.

November
Lots of meetings, building and ministry teams, a church planting seminar, a church plant opening and a major prayer meeting kept Doug busy. Fiona enjoyed the annual women’s conference just out of Chiang Mai. We even managed a couple of days away.

December
Building and ministry teams and our annual trip east to Issan for prison ministry were keys for December. Lots of paperwork and reports too as we head into a new year. The Nail Poverty project received a special community achievement award from Boeing International. This is the first time the award has ever been given to a non American organization. How cool is that?

There have also been thousands of gift packages of clothes & toiletry packs, shoes & school stationery given away throughout the year as well. Thankyou for your help in making this possible.

Nail Poverty is moving forward with the 2 storey home finished and 5 floor pads laid during the year as well. This has been significant as 2010 has been a huge learning curve for us all as we approach these significant projects. The other projects including the Wiang Papao Youth Hub, the House of Dreams, the Mitrijit School and various others we are working with are looking good for 2011.

2010 has been a stretching year for us. No doubt it has for you as well. We are looking for a bigger year in 2011. We pray, we fast, we work and we believe in a miracle working God. If you would like to visit with us, send a team, come as a volunteer or come as a friend, we would love to see you here as part of what God is doing in, through and with us. Consider factoring a visit to Capacity in Thailand into your schedule for 2011!

2010, nearly over but we approach one of the most precious times of the year.

We are thankful for all God has done this year which has been so varied. Seeing lives changed, young and old. Villages transformed, families lifted up and people come to know the one who gave it all.

Recently SBS has shown some interesting documentaries on the spiritual side of things in Tanna.

This week was on a cult around Prince Philip

I can’t believe it’s June! Although it seems the year is again flying by, we choose to take hold of TODAY. Today is what we have in our hands and maximizing this day IS going to make a difference. Thank the Lord for TODAY.

In the last couple of months we have built a baptismal for AOG in central Vietnam, seen more village transformation, more lives changed but also LAUNCHED Strength for young guys as well as trained more trainers in Shine. Testimonies are coming in from all over South East Asia from those we have trained. Very excited and we are believing for the same with Strength.

Airlines flying over Vanuatu are being warned about the dangers of a huge ash cloud from an erupting volcano.

The Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre in Wellington has issued the warning, reporting an ash cloud covering 100 nautical miles and almost two kilometres high.

Both airlines and tourists are being told of the dangers from ash and volcanic rocks from the erupting volcano on Vanuatu's Tana island.

Mount Yasur is popular among tourists as it is just a short walk from a car park to the crater.

But tourists are now banned from visiting the volcano and the health of villagers who live close by is being monitored.

Recipe -Coconut -Ice

Coconut Ice
Coconut ice is simple to make and tastes delicious, as well as making a great gift when wrapped up and decorated with a ribbon.

Preparation
No cooking time.
Preparation time: 10 minutes & 50 minutes to set.
Makes: 30+ Pieces

Ingredients

750g icing sugar

300g desiccated coconut

400ml condensed milk

Vanilla essence

Pink food coloring

Method

Lightly grease and line small square cake tin.

Using a large bowl, sift icing sugar and add desiccated coconut, mix well.

Add condensed milk and a splash of vanilla essence mix until well combined, if dry add small amounts of water until moist.

Half mixture, flatten one half in the tin.

Color the other half of the mixture with about 10 drops of pink food coloring.

Flatten the remaining mixture on top.

Set in fridge for about 50 minutes or until hard.

Cut into small pieces.

Doug & Fiona Higgins here. We trust you have had a great year in 2009 and we pray God’s richest blessings for you in 2010.

2009 has been a significant year for us in many ways; a year of growth, development and progress with some challenges among it. Psalm 121:2 says “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth”. God provides our help by partnering with you. Your partnership enables the work here to continue. Thankyou; your heart for the work is changing lives and destinies.

A personal look at 2009.

Fiona spent a few weeks in Australia in December. Her father has been ill but is steadily improving. This was an important family time.

James (19 y.o. on January 1st 2010) graduated from school and is studying a Discipleship Training Program at the YWAM base in Chiang Mai. This also included an outreach into China and an extensive outreach in north Thailand. He hopes to do a short Media and I.T. internship in Australia at Harvest Bible College before returning to Thailand to work with us in mid 2010.

Zac (turned 17 in August) is studying year 11. He is keen on a number of options and is looking to study further after graduating.

Doug had a busy year; and is looking to God for great things in 2010.

1.Helped provide a sustainable water source to 2 villages.

2.Built a big upstairs room at the Emmanuel girl’s home in Maesai.

3.Bought a motorbike for the House of Dreams in Phayao.

4.Built a vehicle and storage garage for the House of Dreams in Phayao.

5.Built a multi purpose building at the school in Doi Saket.

6.Built a children’s home at the Youth Hub in Wiang Papao.

7.Bought many necessary items for the House of Dreams in Phayao.

8.Built a mushroom farm at the Emmanuel girl’s home in Maesai.

STRATEGY FOR 2010

We believe 2010 will be an important year for us in Thailand. As Capacity we facilitate, implement and resource vision. To do this as effectively as possible we want to link you with between 1 and 3 aspects of the work here. We want to help you to achieve your vision in missions in Thailand. Please pray about your involvement in the following areas for 2010.

Nail Poverty. Building 100 houses for poor people. This was started in 2009 and now we are set to push this project through.

House of Dreams Phayao. Helping at risk children attain a better life.

Emmanuel girls home Maesai. Helping at risk children attain a better life.

Medical Clinics. Reaching out to poor villages and families that don’t have adequate medical access.

Medical Student Scholarships Laos. Providing scholarships to 12 very dedicated yet very poor medical students in Laos.

Child sponsorship. Sponsoring children to provide them with a hope and a destiny.

Education scholarships. Providing schooling scholarships so children can complete their education.

Church planting. We want to plant 10 churches in 2010. (We have already planted 3 churches this year).

Leadership Development. We aim to work with 50 leaders in training in 2010.

Children’s Homes. Continue developing, encouraging and consolidating the homes.

Prison Ministry. Expansion into additional prisons including building a multi purpose building in the Nong Khai prison.

Mitrijit School in Doi Saket. Buy 3 blocks of land. Build a 3 storey school. Reroof the existing building. Place computers in the

School, re do the medical room and develop a quality library.

Bible College teaching. Doug usually does guest Bible College teaching stints each year.

Conferences, Camps, Retreats and Seminars. There are 8 scheduled at this stage.

Every Home for Christ. Placing the Word of God into eight hundred thousand homes in the next 2 years.

International ministry time. We are scheduling two trips to Australia in 2010 and possibly some others in S.E. Asia.

International ministry and project teams. Please bring a team for a week or two. Teams are a huge and invaluable help.

Short term international volunteer workers. Please come and join us in the work here. There is plenty to do.

James Higgins will spend a few months from April to July in Australia. He will be doing a mentorship raising funds as well.

UPCOMING KEY PROJECT ITEM’S UNDER DEVELOPMENT FOR 2010.

English language teaching centre. So we can host several English language teachers in various locations. One Thai pastor who has a church of over 500 members here told me every leader in his church came to Christ through an English language program.

Youth Hub in Wiang Papao. A project for Unreached and at risk youth in the area. We are buying land and are looking to build a girls home; a boy’s home; a church; a drop in centre; a vocational training centre; and a multi purpose building. There are almost 3000 students in 2 schools within 500 metres of the property.

Child sponsorship program. Full sponsorship is $45 per month. Change a life and create a destiny.

Education scholarship program. Help to educate a child for $25 per month. One thousand young people are ready and waiting for education sponsors.

Build a multi purpose/church building inside a prison. At Nong Khai on the Thai Laos border not far from Vientiane the capital of Laos. In 2008 many made first time decisions for Christ here. On December 21st 2009 we conducted a meeting with 250 in attendance. Eighty people from 6 different countries made first time decisions for Christ and were water baptised in the meeting. We are strategically linking with a significant prison ministry to further facilitate and resource this work. If you are interested in prison ministry we need you to partner with us in this crucial work.

A school for stateless children from Burma. In Mae Ra Mart on the Thai Burma border we are working with the local pastor and her team to create this. The children cross the border because life in the Thai refugee camps is better than life for them in Burma. With this school the children will be able to get Thai citizenship allowing them to live a normal life in Thailand. We have the cooperation and assistance of the Thai authorities in the area.

A centre for the children of prostitutes. In Pattaya together with the local church we are developing this significant and strategic project. This will have a positive effect on the lives of the prostitutes, not just the children. It is an exciting work and there are key Thai pastors in our network who have the heart and vision to carry this project through.

A safety centre for desperate and destitute families. In Chiang Khum on the Laos border we are looking to partner with a local group of churches to facilitate this. It means help with education costs for the children, and it will also mean building a children’s home for a number of children who don’t have family at all. Many of the families have generationally crossed into Thailand from Laos and now cannot go back to Laos but can’t move freely around Thailand without proper identification papers.

Mitrijit School in Doi Saket. We need to write this as a new project as the current project criteria has been met here. PTL. We now need to buy 2 small blocks of land and a larger block of land, build a 3 storey school and dormitory, renew the existing school building roof, buy 10 computers, build a sick bay and build a new library. The current student intake is 280 and immediate anticipated goal is 500 students, which will be achieved as soon as we are able to facilitate the items listed.

KEY PRAYER POINTS FOR 2010

Pray for our current partners that they remain fresh with the vision and hungry to see God’s plan unfold in Thailand.

Pray that more partners will join us in the work in Thailand.

Pray for Thailand, for blessing and stability here.

Pray for wisdom for us as we develop projects, plant churches and raise leaders.

Pray for resources for the vision. Pray that we can effectively facilitate, implement and resource the great vision that God has laid upon the heart of His people in Thailand.

Pray for short and long term international volunteers. We have key people waiting to return to us in Thailand. Pray they will be able to raise their budget easily and quickly. Pray for others to join us here as well. The work is growing at a rate that needs a quality and committed international team in Thailand and abroad.

Pray God’s protection for the work and for everyone involved in the work here. The spiritual battle is constant.

Pray God’s heart and hand of blessing in 2010.

Thailand prayer needs from Chiang Mai Prayer Network

The following has just come in from the CM prayer network. Please pray for us and for Thailand according to the email below. This coming weekend is being viewed as somewhat of a watershed time for the nation.
It is also Fiona and my 23rd wedding anniversary on Sunday. Pray that it is
a time of joy and blessing in the midst of the current emotional and
political climate in the nation.

Dear Praying of Chiang mai and Thailand,
On February 26, 2010, the Supreme Court ordered to seize 46 billion baht from 76 billion in frozen assets belonging to ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra's family.

What's next?
Pro-Thaksin protesters (Red-shirt) announced to hold a three-day Mass Rally (March 12-14, 2010, staring this Friday. The highlight will be on Sunday at Sanam Luang, Bangkok.

1. To demand a House dissolution and a snap election
2. To destabilize the government and proclaim their support for former premier Thaksin Shinawatra
2. The red shirts claimed that it is mobilizing at least a million supporters nationwide to join the mass rally March 14 aiming at bringing down the Abhisit Vejjajiva government.
3. To cause a paralysis to Bangkok traffic and have also targeted to attack key government installations located in the capital. This will likely cause huge inconveniences and tempers might flare up to trigger riots.
4. With Maoist tactics of the "forest surrounding the town", protesters from the provinces will move from their home towns to the capital by farm and pickup trucks, plus buses to put pressure on the government.
5. Nobody knows how long the demonstration will last and how serious the situation will be - but the government is prepared for a worst-case scenario of violence and riots.
6. The red shirts did not rule out the possibility of copying the yellow-shirt group's tactics, including seizing government offices as well as Suvarnabhumi Airport, the source said.
7. The bottom line was to stir a chaotic situation until the government loses control.

The Cabinet on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 approved the enforcement of the internal security law on March 11-to-23 in the face of the red-shirt rally.
PRAYER POINTS:

1. The Lord to bring peace into the situation and that there will be no violence, injuries or loss of life. (Isaiah 60:18)
2. The Lord to give wisdom and strategies to the government how to solve problems (Psalm 20:7)
3. The Lord to protect innocent citizens (Psalm 10:12-14)
4. The Lord to supernaturally expose to the government authorities secrets plans to hurt the country. (Mark 4:22)
5. The Prince of Peace to confuse the evil plots of those who are obsessed with inflicting fear, confusion and violence. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in bringing the Light of the Gospel of Christ to those who are being held prisoner in darkness. (Isaiah 9:6, Colossians 1:13)
6. Laborers to be sent out into the communities and to preach the Gospel. Pray for them to see and receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Pray for them to become zealous witnesses for His glory. (Psalm 9:37,38)
7. The Kingdom of God to come in power, bringing a tremendous harvest of souls as the Thai put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (Matthew 6:10)

Higgins Thailand prayer update

Please be in prayer for Thailand throughout this coming week.From Friday through the weekend there will be rallies organised for Thailand in response to the government announcements regarding the decisions made upon the frozen assets of the former Prime Minister.To date things have been very quiet and peaceful.However the upcoming rallies are organised and there is significant support for the cause of the rallies too.The following article was sent to me by a friend living in Bangkok.

Below is an article that came out on Thai Visa today about a weapons stockpile that was stolen this past week, could get quite interesting.

6,000 guns and explosives stolen from barracks
BANGKOK: -- Acting Thai government spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn
confirmed on Sunday that an urgent investigation was being conducted
into a massive loss of weapons and explosives from an army base in
the southern province of Phattalung.
>
According to Mr Panitan, a police report was filed last Thursday and
investigators are attempting to determine whether the weapons have
fallen into the hands of insurgents in the south, or the United Front
for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), aka the red-shirts, who plan
to hold its million man march and rally commencing this Friday, March
12, in an attempt to oust the government.
>
Informed sources claim about 6,000 assault rifles and a large amount
of explosives were taken from Engineering Regiment 401, part of the
Fourth Army Region, in Phatthalung Province, and the theft was only
discovered on Tuesday.
>
Mr. Panitan said the investigation was focusing on the possibility the
theft was an inside job and that since the loss, security at other
army weapons warehouses, especially in Bangkok, has been tightened.
>
The revelation of the theft follows comments yesterday by Prime
Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva that recent intelligence reports had
pointed to the possibility of sabotage taking place on March 14.
>
Mr. Abhisit said that the government's Security-Related Situation
Monitoring Committee had received information that acts of sabotage
aimed at creating chaos were being planned by red-shirt sympathisers.
>
When questioned about the matter, Army spokesman Colonel Sansern
Kaewkamnerd said the Army had no such intelligence.
>
Sean Boonpracong, international media spokesman for the UDD, said
protesters coming to Bangkok on March 12 are being repeatedly told not
to bring weapons to the rally and UDD security personnel will be
checking people for weapons prior to and during the rally.
>
We're constantly stressing to people that the only weapon they
should bring is a camera to photograph anything that the government
might instigate and to photograph the checkpoints along their route.
>
If UDD security personnel detect anyone with weapons then that person
will be handed over to government security agents, Mr. Boonpracon said

Moderate quake strikes Vanuatu

A moderate 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck Vanuatu in the South Pacific on Monday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

Its epicentre was located 98 kilometres south-southwest of the capital Port-Vila at 5.15am, it said. The quake struck at a depth of 15 kilometres.

No tsunami warning was immediately issued as a result of the tremor.

An 8.0-magnitude earthquake and huge tsunami crashed into Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga in September last year, wiping out villages and resorts and killing 184 people.

Three Questions on work in Vietnam

Hi everyone,

Asked by a supporting church the following questions recently, we thought it would be great for you to know the answer to these 3 questions as well. Questions that you also may have on your mind to ask us as well.

Happy to answer your questions…..

The three things are....

1. Where and to who have you been serving this last year –

· This year, we have gone north, south and west. Travelling WEST - into Laos and Cambodia to begin a coalition together with other believers from our neighbouring countries to work together to stamp out trafficking. Travelling NORTH to Hanoi, to train young women who have an evang…. heart to reach the lost. Training them to use the tool of the Shine Program to take the message out into their market place.

· Travelling SOUTH to HCMC– to gather together with all AOG leaders and many believers for the ‘history making day’ of receiving legal recognition of the ch.

· Travelling into the MOUNTAINS to touch the lives of the ethnic minority people and others devastated by the typhoons. Here in Danang and Quang Nam to minister to 1000s of lives through showing them that God sees their needs and wants to meet them at their point of need.

· Also here in Danang, training many leaders locally and from surrounding countries in the pre evang…. tool of using the Shine Program to reach young women at risk, coming out of prostitution, in social welfare centres, the deaf community, women with HIV, schools and beyond.

2. What has been the most exciting or satisfying accomplishment or event this last year.

· By far, the most significant day was standing in a room with 1000s celebrating the legal recognition of the ch.

· Secondly, the training of so many in the Shine Program from Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Finland, Holland, Philippines, America in the Shine Program to take it back to, not only their countries, but beyond to India and Indonesia as well. We have found through this program, it is bringing healing to many. It is also an excellent tool to get girls and young women to make right choices before heading down a destructive path.

· Seeing 1000s of lives transformed through community development. Having the chance to pray with families who come in with their sick children suffering from life threatening heart disease.

3. What do you look forward to or plan for in the coming year.

· With our ramping up of working to eradicate trafficking, we will be doing more Shine Training but also job skill training. The question has been asked to girls who still continue to go into places like Cambodia and live a less than existent life and are sexually abused is, “why are you going there, when you know what has happened to others.” Their answer is always the same, “it won’t happen to me, I am stronger, I will be ok”. We want to give them alternatives to this lifestyle so we will be providing vocational training in many fields. (Hospitality being one and connecting others with business people in the field the girls are interested in). We see a threefold process here. Take them through the Shine Program, give them training in a vocation so they can get a REAL job and lead them to salv……

· We are looking to build a ch in the Mekong Delta area. This will be built in a strategic location. An up and coming city in VN.

· Continue to bring transformation into 1000s of lives working together with the ch so they are doing Community Based Evan…

PROPHECY FROM PASTOR JEREMIAH YAP

I see new platforms being built by the Lord for your people to stand on to be launched into kingdom ministries. Platforms of reaching different types of people and there is an anointing on these platforms I see people of varied clothing and colours more than what you have had before.

The anointing of the Lord on you will take you into rivers that flow over different parched lands.

I perceive a wind of change blowing over and there is a shift in the spirit over your church. It is shift for God’s strategy that amounts to something greater and broader.

It is not as you have perceived how things should be in the past. The platforms are as nets that bring in the fish. The platforms are as stations where fishes are being cleaned and kept. The platforms are also points of docking of fishing boats that bring in people from different lands.

This is a new day of anointing of the evangelist and the pastoral together.

The days of restriction are over in this breath of God’s new wind. Put on your garment you have been called.

I speak a word of release to you and your church in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. A new day in Jesus name

As Christine L told us on Sunday she prayed with 3 young women one was a Christian and two were Buddhists and they prayed to bring Jesus into their hearts

Tanna - Greenhill buildings in Satellite view

Did you know the buildings that Cornerstone has built on Tanna are visible on Google Maps?

Well I did not realise that until Graeme Rule created a placemark map which I have put into Google. You need to click View larger Map and then zoom in until you see the placemark tags.

Actually it works best in Google Earth click for the download if you install then you can click Google earth on "View in Google Earth" and download the kml which will open the map in Google Earth then you can really zoom in and see the building from the satellite - view on Google maps is not as good.

I hope the placemarks are correct so please let me know of any misplacements or new places we should add

Greetings from Chiang Mai in north Thailand.

Doug, Fiona, James & Zac Higgins here. We trust you are doing wel.

First I (Doug) want to apologise to you for the lack of communication lately. We have been putting systems in place so that we are now positioned to regularly update you, keeping you well informed regarding the ministry and ourselves personally.

We really do appreciate you and thank you for the support you have given us over the time we have known each other. We realise that without you we could not be here doing what we are doing. You really are our partner in the work here.

God has been doing great things.

I (Doug) am very busy in the work and thankful for a wonderful wife and partner in Fiona who looks after me very well especially when I am at home, which is about half the time.

Fiona is working with a number of expat women in Chiang Mai, leading Bible studies and involved in the worship team in the church. She also looks after her 3 men, (Doug 50, James 18, & Zac 17) and her menagerie of animals including 4 dogs and 3 cats. The dogs are for protection and the cats are for comfort and pleasure.

James has completed High School and is currently studying a Discipleship Training Program (DTS) with YWAM in Chiang Mai. He wants to return to Melbourne for a few months in 2010 and do an internship in media at Harvest Bible College then return to help us in the work with IT, communication and media. He is also playing keyboard in the church.

Zac is in year 11 at school and after completing high school is thinking of returning to Melbourne in Australia to study Urban Development. Please pray for this as it requires very good grades and diligence in study. It will also mean a total life style change as Zac first arrived in Thailand as an 8 year old boy.

Since we first arrived in Thailand in April 2001 by the Grace of God and with a tremendous local and international team and your partnership, we have been able to do the following.

Plant 25 churches.
Raise up over 250 leaders.
Build a Christian church inside a Thai prison.
Work with 10 children’s homes.
Provide assistance (through food, clothing, health care and education) to 400 children through those children’s homes.
Set up a child sponsorship program for full sponsorship and for education sponsorship.
Build the House of Dreams, a 3 storey home for at risk girls.
Start a primary school 2 years ago that now has 350 students registered.
Build 5 homes for poverty stricken families
Lead an average of 1500 people per year to the Lord though the ministry network we train and support.
Water baptise an average of 600 people per year.
Teach, preach and work in 7 countries, mainly in our region around Thailand.
Host 70 visiting teams from overseas.
Develop 20 significant projects and many mini or “bite sized” projects.
Participate in 60 seminars
Teach in 7 Bible Colleges
Buy7 blocks of land for the work
Minister at 12 weddings and 20 funerals
Preach and teach an average of 200 times per year
Buy 12 vehicles and motorbikes and sell 1 and retire 4 (not before their time).
Help coordinate and sponsor 12 medical students in Laos.
Develop medical clinics on an ongoing basis
Host several short term volunteers who have worked with us
Teach English language in several schools and church settings
Drive an average of 1200 kilometres per week.

It seems that God has us spending our time, gifts and expertise in resourcing the vision of local people. Their visions are daring and set to have huge impact on the region as they come into being.

Currently we are working in various stages on the following projects with several other smaller or “bite sized” projects happening as well.

Maesai girls home. Established and doing an awesome job transforming the lives and destinies of many girls at risk of being trafficked into prostitution.

House of Dreams. Also established and doing an awesome job transforming the lives and destinies of many girls at risk of being trafficked into prostitution.

Nail Poverty is a project where we intend to build 100 homes on 5 properties for families living in poverty. We are not just building homes but healthy villages.

Setting up an English language teaching centre so we can host several English language teachers in various locations. One of the target areas for a centre is the largest university in Thailand with over three hundred thousand students in attendance (Yes you did read correctly).

Developing a Youth Hub in Wiang Papao for unreached and at risk youth in the area. We have purchased land and are looking to build a girls home, a boys home, a church, a drop in centre, a vocational training centre and a multi purpose building. The property is 100 metres from a school of 1500 students and 700 metres from another school of 1200 students.

Development of the child sponsorship program and the education sponsorship program as these are crucial in seeing young lives transformed. Full sponsorship is $40 per month and education sponsorship is $25 per month. Both are tax deductible. Currently we have one thousand children and youth ready for education sponsors.

We have been asked to build another church inside a prison after the prison governor saw the change inside the first prison. We would like to do this as the changes in lives and attitudes so far have been very significant. This prison is very significant and strategic as it is on the Laos border not far from Vientiane, the capital of Laos.

In Mae Ra Mart on the Thai Burma border we are working with the local pastor and team to create a school for stateless children from Burma. These children cross the border because life in the refugee camps is better than life for them in Burma. With this school the children will be able to get Thai citizenship allowing them to live a normal life in Thailand. We have the cooperation and assistance of the Thai authorities in the area.

In Pattaya together with the local church we are developing a centre for the children of prostitutes. This will also have a positive effect on the lives of the prostitutes, not just the children. It is an exciting work and there are key Thai pastors in our network who have the heart and vision to carry this project through.

In Chiang Khum on the Laos border we are looking to partner with a local group of churches to help desperate and destitute families. In some cases this means help with education costs for the children, and it will also mean building a children’s home for a number of children who don’t have family at all. Many of the families have generationally crossed into Thailand from Laos and now cannot go back to Laos but can’t move freely around Thailand without proper identification papers.

We are working with Every Home for Christ preparing to place the Word of God into eight hundred thousand homes in north Thailand over the next 2 years. The statistical discipleship rate of this program is eleven percent so we expect to see more than one hundred thousand people be discipled into Christ in this time frame. As a result we can also expect to see about two hundred churches planted in this program as well.

I am excited to let you know that the Vietnamese Government have advised the Vietnam AOG that they will grant them official legal recognition which takes effect from next Monday 19th October. We will be attending the celebration meeting next Monday representing ACC, ACC World Missions, ACC World Relief and all of our faithful partners. You guys share the victory of this historic event. Thank you so much for your incredible support over many years for the groundbreaking we have been doing here.

Ps Joshua spoke on how we should be champions. Jesus was a Champion so we should be Champions because we have His Spirit in us.

Champions with the Great Commission.
Matthew 28:18-30 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Champions in sowing the seed
Mark 4: 3-9 "Listen! A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. Other seed fell on rocky ground where it did not have much soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep. When the sun came up it was scorched, and because it did not have sufficient root, it withered. Other seed fell among the thorns, and they grew up and choked it, and it did not produce grain. But other seed fell on good soil and produced grain, sprouting and growing; some yielded thirty times as much, some sixty, and some a hundred times." And he said, "Whoever has ears to hear had better listen!"

Mark 4: 13-26 He said to them, "Don't you understand this parable? Then how will you understand any parable? 14 The sower sows the word. 15 These are the ones on the path where the word is sown: Whenever they hear, immediately Satan comes and snatches the word that was sown in them. 16 These are the ones sown on rocky ground: As soon as they hear the word, they receive it with joy. 17 But they have no root in themselves and do not endure. Then, when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, immediately they fall away. 18 Others are the ones sown among thorns: They are those who hear the word, 19 but worldly cares, the seductiveness of wealth, and the desire for other things come in and choke the word, and it produces nothing. 20 But these are the ones sown on good soil: They hear the word and receive it and bear fruit, one thirty times as much, one sixty, and one a hundred."

Champions pray that they have witnessed to someone that they are the ones sown on good soil.

Champions in following God's words
Acts10: 3 About three o'clock one afternoon he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God who came in and said to him, "Cornelius. 5 Now send men to Joppa and summon a man named Simon, who is called Peter
Acts10: 9 About noon the next day, while they were on their way and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. the Spirit said to him, "Look! Three men are looking for you.
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the message.

Now because Cornelius obeyed the vision he had and because Peter also followed the vision by going with the men a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit happened. Be Champions in obeying a vision from God.

Joshua closed in saying that the people of Cornerstone were Champions and that when he returned to Tanna he would get his team together to pray for all of us by name. And that special prayers would be said including praying for those of us with businesses.

SCONES recipe

SCONES - many people ask Christine for this quick and lovely recipe

300 ml cream

300 ml Lemonade

sifted 4 cups White Self raising flour

1 pinch salt

Prepare 30cm by 20cm tin/tray by oiling and dusting with cornflour.

Heat oven to 180 to 200c.

Make well in center of flour

Add cream and lemonade and mix with fork until mixed together.

If it is crumbly ie little lumps – use a disposable glove and press together to make one big lump. But the less you move it the better. Do not roll mixture.

Press straight into the tin, cut squares lightly then cook until lightly browned.

When you take it out finish cutting the squares but leave to cool.

I test with a skewer to know if cooked inside.

who we will minister to. Covering over our family members for God’s protection over

them. For our team who will minister, each and every one of us. Thank you so much.

We have to move office and have our eye on a place that is quite unique. Please

pray that we know the leading of God for this. Nothing is straight forward here

so needing to get the right place to serve the purposes of our growing ministry

is important. We need a place for our office, for our training and for a café

which will train underprivileged young people. Very excited about that.

Family of five killed in home attack

Church was great today I needed that kind of fire after the trauma of Saturday. The terrible murders at the other end of our street were most upsetting. A family of five gone just like that. We saw the police barricades and then heard the news that it was the Lin family.

Henry and Terry both went to North Epping School. Terry was in our grandson's class. Harry said he just wants to see his friend again, "because he smiled and joked and was just a nice guy..."

Our son does scripture teaching at the school and Terry was one of his pupils. David emailed me "When you see kids sleeping, don't you just want to protect them? How can people be that full of hate or self interest? How can killing kids be an option, simply because they happened to be on site when the murderer wanted to kill the dad? How can people see other people as so "disposable"? The first chapters of the Bible include the first humans rebelling against God, and then Cain murdering Abel. We should not be surprised. Nevertheless, it still hurts. I cried all last night after figuring out who it was, and had to take a sleeping tablet. Terry was just a happy, cheeky, naughty kid that liked a joke, and he was brutally murdered."

Please pray for the relatives and friends of the Lin family as they try to come to terms with this mindless murder and the community of North Epping. The school kids who have lost classmates and all the teachers for wisdom and compassion.

All Saints Anglican Church have invited Lyn Worsley (Registered Clinical Psychologist) and a team of psychologists from Alpha Counselling Centre at Eastwood to come to a community night this Tuesday evening. Lyn will speak about what to expect when a tragedy of this nature occurs and how we might respond as a community. She will give some insights into how to best answer children’s questions and how to reassure them as they try to make sense of what has happened. There will be plenty of opportunity for you to ask questions and have them addressed by Lyn and her team. The night is not suitable for children but will benefit adults and teenagers.

Pray for Cambodia

Back in 1998 Christine and Ron went on a mission briefing visit to SE Asia conducted by Pastor Tom Rawls.
On that trip with us were Doug and Fiona Higgins who decided at that time that they would become missionaries in Thailand and we also met Paul and Deborah Hilton whom Cornerstone had funded to go to Vietnam.
Part of the tour was a visit to Cambodia. And we came to realise what a disaster for Cambodia the regime of Pol Pot had been.
We saw Tuol Sleng prison which was really a school and also the Choeung Ek killing field. The anger in people over what happened was so clear and they felt that justice had not been done to the killers. Clearly closure is needed.

66-year-old Duch, whose real name is Kaing Guek Eav, has accepted responsibility for his role governing the jail and begged forgiveness near the start of his trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Some while ago we heard that Duch had been born again and wondered what would happen.

Do you rememeber just a few years ago a young women Rebecca Williams visited Cornerstone. Rebecca was off to Cambodia as an AOG missionary to bring them the Good News using her skills in Drama.

Please pray as the Spirit leads you for Duch and the people and government of Cambodia and our missionaries there.

Doug and Fiina were recently here for National Conference. This is from Doug just as he returns. Christine and Ron visited some tribal villages in our 1998 trip and those people sure live simply and projects to help them are a blessing.

Hi Ron,

We have a couple of fairly exciting things happening in the near future as there are 2 women coming over to help us in the work. One will be staying on full time and doing projects, proposals, reports and such like. This is a real blessing to me as this is an area I need help in. The other is there to work with us on child sponsorship. This is an are we are moving more into as we realize the children's homes need this kind of impetuous.

We are starting a project called Nil Poverty.
In short we are building homes (100 for families in poverty. They are tribal people and this will help them and indeed the community generally. We are building the homes on five sites and we are in fact building 5 villages. Each home will cost $6,000 and it is a tax deductible project. There are a number of other projects we are doing but this is the big one for the next year.

Hi everyone,  It has been great to catch up with so many of you over the past couple of months. We would have loved to have seen everyone but time didn't permit. We will definitely be with you next time around.  We head back to Vietnam in just over 3 weeks and we will be hitting the ground running. Lots happening as we head back including opening up a training centre for all our training including ShineGIRL but more of that soon in our newsletter coming up.   IN THE MEANTIME, we know it's tax time and we have many exciting projects for you to check out. These projects will be life transforming so we would love for you to consider these. An added incentive is they are ALL TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

• Imbi needs prayer due to a growth that has started to appear on her
right thumb.
• Pray also for Sergey’s health. It was recently discovered that he is a
diabetic.

• Pray that God would touch the Setu people and others, in order that they
would accept salvation from Jesus.
• Pray for the opening up of the Petserimaa border zone, as applying to
enter the border zone in addition to obtaining a Russian visa can be
tiresome to those who want to travel with Kalju.

• Please pray for Marianas husband Jura (a hearer) as he hasn´t yet made
a decision for Christ.

2009 plans

Build up to (or more than) 100 houses for poor, displaced and/or repatriated people in various villages.

Continue to develop the concept of “Healthy Villages” rather than simply working with villages.

Host a number of strategic international short term teams particularly from our partnering churches in Australia.

Bring Debbie Frost on as a full time worker in Project, Proposal and Report writing. Debbie will be a big help to us.

Bring James Higgins on as a full time worker in IT; and assorted tasks. James will be a big help directly to Doug.

To this stage there are building teams and various other teams that have committed to coming and spending time

working with us in 2009.

Plant 5 churches. We have planted 2 churches to this stage this year so are off to a good start.

Spend some time ministering in Australia, catching up with partners in May.

Attend the ACC National Conference in Australia. This is usually a strategic time for us.

There are several seminars and programs planned for this year. Many of them are outreach oriented.

Consolidate the land projects in Wiang Par Paw.

Purchase land in Wiang Par Paw city and relocate the WPP church and develop a significant training centre in a very strategic city in north Thailand.

Develop a Website and name to help keep you better informed in what we are doing.

Continue development of a child sponsorship program relevant to what we are doing here.

Develop an education sponsorship program relevant to what we are doing here.

Develop a support sponsorship program for boys at San Pa Tong. Currently there are five boys in need of assistance.

Develop an assistance and education program for boys at risk in the Chiang Mai area. Currently there are many boys preyed on to work in prostitution and sell drugs.

Develop an education sponsorship program for Bible College students we are working with. Several of these students will go on and become productive church planters, pastors and leaders in the community.

Develop appropriate strategies and programs for our local outreach teams locally and abroad.

Develop the “Gap Year” concept into something that will be useful for us in introducing short term workers from Australia into the world of missions. We have used the Gap Year format in 2008 and it was successful but we need to take the concept to a more productive level. We can use people on the ground in voluntary positions, particularly English teaching into schools and other areas.

Continue and expand the medical sponsorship program into Laos.

Develop a project to provide water to a Wang Tarn village which we work with. This is a very necessary project and would qualify for tax deductibility status if applied for.

Do 4 renovations and extensions to existing buildings in various locations in our network.

Build 3 churches in various villages which will also be used for general community purposes in the villages.

Nurture the relationship we are developing with the new prison work we have been introduced to.

We are looking at the possibility of a development based children’s home in Pattaya. There are quality local people we work with who have a heart and a vision for this.

Continue towards starting an English language school in Maesai.

Extend the work with the existing children’s homes and develop strategies for them for 2009 and beyond.

Buy adjoining land to the House of Dreams in Phayao to continue developing the project appropriately.

Doug is on the northern Thai board Every Home for Christ in Thailand for 2009. This project is geared at getting the Word of God into every home in Thailand.

We are helping to consolidate an existing Bible School; we advise and do some teaching at the school.

Fiona will continue her role in teaching various women’s groups and on the worship roster at the international church.

James will continue as a keyboard player in the international church and various other groups and as a leader in the youth group.

Zac will continue assisting with the international children’s church program and learning acoustic guitar.

Doug is making enquiries into starting his Masters Degree in Public Health this year. It depends on how busy he is.

We intend to conduct further medical clinics to help increase and improve the data base for our “Healthy Villages” in 2009.

Churches planted into international countries need to be fostered and grown in a positive manner by our local people.

We want to link Australian churches with our Thai churches in a “buddy system” in order to pray for each other and to care for each other where appropriate. The Thai church can learn a lot from our Australian church partners.

Doug and Fiona Higgins are Australian Christian Churches (ACC) missionaries to Thailand and are active in numerous ministry activities in Northern Thailand, Burma and Laos. Doug has developed a number of strategic partnerships with Australian and Thai National Church groups and other International mission groups.

Doug's time is generally spent in teaching, preaching, administration, advisory consultations, mentoring, connecting with local and international partners and potential partners, church planting, and sourcing resources for the work.

Together with our local and international partners we were able to achieve the following in 2008.

Planted 6 churches.

Worked in some capacity in 6 countries.

Worked with 18 visiting international teams.

Participated in 20 seminars.

Bought 5 blocks of land.

Built 6 buildings, renovations or extensions.

Built 5 houses.

Participated in 5 weddings and 4 funerals.

Bought 4 vehicles.

Participated in 120 meetings of various description.

Had 150 preaching and teaching engagements.

Worked with 5 children’s homes.

Finished building and moved more than 20 girls and staff into the House of Dreams in Phayao.

Spent 129 nights away from Chiang Mai.

Drove more than sixty thousand kilometres.

Water baptised 500 people during the year.

Saw one thousand five hundred first time decisions for Christ.

Trained 20 new leaders into various leadership roles.

Continued sponsorship packages for 3 advanced education students. 1 in Bible College 1 in Teachers College 1 studying accounting.

In October a gun was pulled on Doug while returning from a youth camp near Bangkok.

Started working towards 3 major projects in land and repatriation development for poor people.

Established a number of smaller projects.

Continued distributing the “Book of Hope” into schools and homes in north Thailand.

Doug did several guest teaching stints at Bible Colleges.

The primary school at Doi Saket went from 90 to 200 student registrations in 2008.

Helped coordinate and sponsor 12 medical students in Laos.

Established a solid connection into a new prison in an international border town.

Fiona was active in teaching various women’s groups and on the worship roster at the international church.

James & Zac were both active in the life of the western church in Chiang Mai.

James is a keyboard player and a leader in the youth group.

Zac assisted with the international children’s church program and is learning acoustic guitar.

We were able to visit with each of our Australian partnering churches in Australia during June & July in 2008.

Doug received his Australian ACC ordination papers.

Worked with a very successful medical clinic which will provide the data base for our “Healthy Villages” in 2009.

Had short term mission’s teams from our church network in Thailand minister into Burma and Laos, which resulted in a church plant in Burma and quality contact points in Laos.

Introduced & mentored medium term workers into the work we do, particularly Emily (English Language Teacher) & Debbie (Project and Report writer).

2008 was a very productive year and one that provides us a good basis to commence 2009 in a constructive manner. We are looking for 2009 to be our most productive year yet. The signs in this direction are looking positive as we have been able to plant two churches to this stage in 2009.

HEALING TOUCH MONTHLY NEWS LETTER - MONTH ; MARCH

Hello to our readers, God bless you and we are back to you again for more news for the month of March. We hope you have enjoyed our first and second news about Gods presence. Because of Gods presence we would like to share some news about what is happening in our Christian centers.

This month was an interesting month for us to see what God is doing. In Jerusalem center two chiefs gave their lives to Jesus, when I was baptising them I was surrounded by their families crying. One lady approached me and said pastor you know we are crying because these two men are our last men after our traditional living and today Jesus is making a difference. Praise the Lord.

In  brother Paul’s village he built a little traditional house as a place of worship. We went there this month to open the center. It is called HEALLING CENTER. After 8 years he run away from his village because of spiritual sickness  but today God is returning back Paul his wife and his children in peace with a great ministry.   Sick people started going to Paul's center for healing prayers. During the opening 8 people got baptisted. Today the number is continually added as more healing is taking place.

Paul is unschooled, his present ministry is prophet he is really committed to the divine call of God. God uses him through vision so you find him moving from place to place praying for the sick and leading people to Christ.

We visited another village called Launalang. 19 people were baptised so the total number of people baptised this month is about 40.

In Port Vila today the center has now moved to 6 centers. More and more calling is coming everywhere around us not only in Tanna but other islands throughout out nation Vanuatu.

Our church building at Greenhill is getting smaller and smaller as the number is increasing  and as I see this I know God is by our side. God is building his church. Acts 2 vs 28 you have made known to me the paths of life, you will fill me with joy in your presence.

Good to see Paul on Easter Sunday. He stayed with us and it was great to catch up. I was quite taken with the Pig Plan. A family agree to take a pig and have to give two piglets back but with the second litter. That means they know the pig is sound. It has turned around the finances of several families. And is becoming a World Relief project plan for other places.

on Vietnam this year. Pray for finance to cover all that we are doing.
